The varsity basketball coaches of the Vine Valley Athletic League weighed in with their votes this week, and selected three boys and four girls from Sonoma Valley High School to the Basketball All-League All Stars.

Selected to girls first team All-League was Kennedy Midgley, a junior who is currently playing with the girls varsity softball team.

Annie Neles, a senior, was named to the 2nd team, while both junior Shauna Johnston and sophomore Sophie Lucchetti earned honorable mention.

In boys basketball, senior Jack Boydell was selected to the first team. He lead the Dragons in scoring, both on average and total points.

Senior Tyler Garrett got voted to the second team, and junior Riley Phelan received an honorable mention.

Coach Mike Boles said he was “very happy for our players,” and thought Boydell was “well deserving of being selected to the first team. He was our leading scorer, 2nd leading rebounder, and was given some tough defensive assignments. He also drew the best defensive player each game.”

Coach Jann Thorpe was pleased with all the girls selected, and enthusiastic about their contributions to the team. Of first-team selection Midgeley, the coach said, “Kennedy could score inside and out for us… She would be that spark for us when we really needed it.”

She was equally supportive of the other selections, noting that of the four only Neles was a senior, and the others would be returning next year.

Selected statistics:

Jack Boydell: 17.9 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game

Tyler Garret: 4.8 points per game
