While they’ve only been practicing a little more than a week, both Sonoma Valley High basketball teams and both soccer teams have scrimmages already scheduled this week.
The varsity soccer girls start things off with a match at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at Novato. The following Wednesday, Nov. 14, the girls will travel to Rancho Cotate before hosting an alumni game the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 24, at the all-weather, multi-purpose field behind Adele Harrison Middle School. Game time for the Alumni Game is 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday evening, the Lady Dragon basketball team will host Redwood in a scrimmage in Pfeiffer Gym. The JV game starts at 5 p.m. while the varsity is set to start at 6:15.
The Lady Dragons will be playing in the Justin-Siena Scramble on Saturday. And on Tuesday, Nov. 20, and Wednesday, Nov. 21, the girls will have back-to-back exhibition games. On Nov. 20, Sonoma will host Montgomery in the annual Foundation Game – JV at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity at 7. The Foundation Game is a game sanctioned by the North Coast Section, but doesn’t count in the standings. The game is a fund-raiser for the NCS Scholarship Foundation.
On Wednesday, Nov. 21, there will be a doubleheader as both the boys and the girls host their respective Alumni Game. The girls game is scheduled for 5 p.m. while the boys game is set for a 7 p.m. tip off.
The boys basketball team will have its first scrimmage at Healdsburg on Saturday in a 2:30 p.m. game. The boys will host San Marin the following Saturday, Nov. 17, in a scrimmage. Frosh at noon, JV at 1:30 p.m. and the varsity at 3.
The boys too will be playing a Foundation Game on Tuesday, Nov. 20. The Dragons will be traveling to Santa Rosa High for their games. Freshman game is set for 4:30 p.m., JV at 6 and varsity at 7:30.
The soccer Dragons will be hosting their first game of the year Saturday at the field behind Adele Harrison. The Dragons will face San Marin with the JV set to start at 10 a.m. and the varsity set to go at noon. The soccer boys will host their annual Alumni Game at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, also at the Adele Harrsion facility.
