Softball Dragons get second-seed in SCL

SCL finals set for Thursday at Analy|

The Sonoma Valley High Lady Dragon softballers used three home runs Thursday to power their way to a 7-0 win over El Molino in the final regular-season game.

Sonoma got home runs from Kaliyah Hensic, Lyndsey Lee and Ally Alcayaga.

The Lady Dragons got one run in the first, two more in the third, one in the sixth and three more in the seventh inning as they racked up eight hits.

Abby Alcayaga had two doubles, while Hensic, Lee, Kaitlyn Dunevent, Kennedy Midgley, Ally Alcayaga and Raquel Hernandez each had a hit. Ally Alcayaga drove in three runs.

Abby Alcayaga and Jordyn Chiotti shared the pitching duties with Abby Alcayaga starting and going five innings, giving up two hits and getting the win. Chiotti pitched the last two innings in relief.

The win gives the Lady Dragons a 12-10 overall record and a 10-2 SCL record.

The Lady Dragons finished second in the SCL, a game behind league champs Petaluma.

The Lady Dragons are the second seed in the Sonoma County League tournament which will again be held at Analy’s field, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Sonoma comes into the tournament on a six-game winning streak, and have won 10 of their last 11 games.

The Lady Dragons will face Analy (17-7, 9-3) at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Petaluma (18-5, 11-1) will face Piner (9-10, 6-6) at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, with the championship game slated for 5 p.m. Thursday at Analy.
