Petaluma tops SVHS tennis boys

Sonoma looks for payback next Monday|

The Dragon tennis team won three of four singles matches Tuesday, but dropped all three doubles matches and lost to Petaluma 4-3.

In singles play, Carlos Rubio beat Petaluma’s Nathan Wong, 6-3 and 6-3; Trevor Griggs-Demmin defeated Petaluma’s Connor Gors, 6-1 and 6-4; Erik Serbicki topped Petaluma’s Zack Leno, 6-3 and 6-1; and Petaluma’s Hayden Dennis beat Sam Weisiger, 6-2 and 6-2.

In doubles play, Petaluma’s Alex Dodd and Colton Moss defeated Silvan Kopp and Nace Momsen, 6-2 and 6-2; Petaluma’s Khalil Tams and Aiden Cannon topped Dominik Garcia and Jackson Zyskowski; and Petaluma’s Logan Reuter and Griffin Epstein beat Julian Hewitt and Reed Hewitt, 6-4 and 6-4.

“This was a tough first loss for the Dragons,” said Coach Walt Williams. “The Hewitt brothers had a close loss at third doubles but are looking forward to a rematch next Monday at the SVHS courts.”

Sonoma sits at 2-1 on the season.

The Dragons had a match against Analy rained out Wednesday that will be made up on April 24. The Dragons were at Analy on Thursday, results not available at press time. And Sonoma hosts Petaluma on Monday, April 16.
