O’Meara, Mulas get HOF honors

10 individuals, one team will be inducted into the Dragon Hall of Fame.|

Former Dragon football coaches Mick O’Meara and Mike Mulas will be honored with the D.A. Pfeiffer Coaches Award May 12 as part of the Sonoma Valley High 2018 Hall of Fame induction.

O’Meara coached football for 41 years – including 29 years as the Dragons head coach. Mulas coached with O’Meara for 34 years and was his chief assistant coach. O’Meara handled the offense while Mulas handled the defense.

Together, their record was 174-135-6, and that included eight Sonoma County League titles – five outright and three ties – and a second-place in the North Coast Section in 1990.

The pair retired after the 2012 season.

The Mulas Family Recognition Award will be presented to Dan Eraldi, of Eraldi’s Mens Wear, on the Plaza. The award is honors individuals, families or businesses who have contributed time and/or resources to ensure that the Valley’s students, athletes and coaches have the additional support necessary to have successful seasons and experiences.

Individual inductees include Willie Church (football and basketball, 1993), Scott Brunton (football, 1993), Erin Stenvers (swimming, 1996), Melanie Arner (volleyball and basketball, 1995), Mindy Wiley (track and volleyball, 2006), Travis Winslow (wrestling, 1988) and Heather Bruno (golf, 1997).

The team that will be honored will be the girls cross country team of 1985.

The induction ceremony will be held on May 12, at Hanna Boys Center. Tickets are $45 per person. To order tickets, send a check made out to “Dragon Hall of Fame” with a self-addressed stamped envelope to Dragon Hall of Fame, 21700 Pearson Ave, Sonoma, CA 95476.
