Another of Sonoma Raceway’s signature events has been postponed indefinitely in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The NHRA Sonoma Nationals Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event, originally scheduled for July 24-26 at the Raceway, will be postponed to a yet-to-be determined date.

“The effects of this health crisis are impacting every aspect of our society, and though this delay is frustrating, our first priority is the health of our patrons and the larger NHRA drag racing community,” said Steve Page, Sonoma Raceway president and general manager.

Page said the raceway and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) will continue working to confirm a new race date, while maintaining contact with local and federal government and health officials regarding safety guidelines.

It was the latest change in an ever-evolving schedule for the 51-year-old raceway at Sears Point.

The Sonoma Speed Festival scheduled for May 22-24 was postponed until Sept. 4-6, though that remains tentative.

The CSRG David Love Historic Car Races for May 29-June 3 has been canceled for the 2020 calendar year.

The raceway’s biggest event, the NASCAR Save Mart/Toyota 350, is still on the calendar for June 12-14, but NASCAR has been running this year’s events as live-streaming virtual races, using the iRacing app with professional drivers.
