Homework help: Free, drop-in homework help resumes at the Sonoma Valley public library from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9. There is free homework assistance for grades K-12 thanks to trained volunteer homework coaches for all subjects. Basketball: Girls basketball for grades 3 to 9 is now open for registration at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley. The season runs Feb. 12 through May 10. Sign-up today at bgcsonoma.org/girls-basketball.html

Hiring: The Sonoma Valley school district is hiring for 11 openings. The full- and part-time open spots include occupational therapist, speech language pathologist, vehicle repair workers, school community liaison, instructional assistant, noon duty supervisor, bus driver and more. Crab Feed: Tickets are on sale now for the Sonoma Valley High School Crab Feed and Dance at the Veterans Memorial Building on First Street West. The event, put on by the Boosters Club, is set for Saturday, Feb. 3, and it features cracked crab, pasta, salad, wine, dancing and a silent auction. VIP tickets are $85, general tickets are $65 and dance only tickets are $25.Visitsvhscrabfeed.org.

Free books: The Sonoma County Free Bookmobile will be in the area on Saturday, Jan. 6. Stop by the Kenwood Market from noon to 1 p.m., the Glen Ellen Post Office from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. or the Fiesta Center in Boyes Hot Springs from 3 to 5 p.m. You can take or donate books.

Health care career info: Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park will be hosting “My Future is in Healthcare Careers” full-day healthcare symposium and workshops for high school students from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19. Register at mifuturonorcal.org.

Book sale: The Friends of the Sonoma Valley Library are hosting a “mini” book sale of fiction-only titles on Friday, Jan. 5 and Saturday, Jan. 6. Students get their first book free, otherwise $2 for hardbacks; $1 for paperbacks.
