Sassarini Elementary School has a new principal

School psychologist Stefanie Jordan promoted to lead school|

The Sonoma Valley Unified School District announced Wednesday the hiring of a new principal to oversee Sassarini Elementary School.

Stefanie Jordan, currently the school psychologist at Sassarini and Sonoma Charter School, will take over as principal starting July 1, the district said in a press release.

Jordan has worked as a school psychologist in Sonoma Valley since 2005 at Prestwood Elementary and throughout the entire district, and has been in public education for 21 years.

In the press release, Jordan said she “considered elementary school administration for a few years now and is thrilled and fortunate to have landed at Sassarini.”

She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UC Davis and a master’s degree in school psychology from Sacramento State. She will complete her Administrative Services Credential through Sonoma County Office of Education in June.

Jordan lives in Sonoma and has two children attending Sonoma Valley district schools. She also coaches youth soccer, and enjoys “hiking, jogging, cooking and eating,” according to the press release.

Jordan replaces interim principal Tom Stubbs who was hired to fill in for former principal Andrew Ryan who took a job in the district office as human resources director last summer.
