Sonoma school district operations manager resigns

Longtime maintenance and operations manager Tony Albini resigned from the Sonoma Valley Unified School District last week, having taken another job with the Novato Unified School District.

The maintenance and operations department at the district performs repairs to ensure maintenance at all school facilities, as well as managing the upkeep of all school grounds.

In the press release announcing his departure, Albini said that his decision to leave was a difficult one.

“We may not have always agreed on all things but have and always respected one another and made improvements in order to do what is best for the people that count most, all of our students,” Albini said about the district.

Albini grew up in Sonoma and attended Flowery and El Verano elementary schools, then Altimira Middle School before graduating from Sonoma Valley High School in 1988. His wife Jennifer Albini also works in the district office in the educational services department.

The district has posted the open position and “will be working collaboratively with both unions” to fill the role, according to Andrew Ryan, the district director of human resources. The EdJoin posting lists the salary range as $76,684 to $87,520.

Albini is the second manager-level departure from the district office in the past month. Cody Williams, the District’s food services manager, also resigned to accept a bigger job at Novato Unified.
