Santa Rosa set to accept applications for new cannabis dispensaries

The city’s earlier wave of applicants could lead to 23 cannabis shops opening in Santa Rosa.|

Santa Rosa is almost ready to again accept applications to open cannabis stores.

Starting Monday, people wanting to open a dispensary can schedule an appointment with city staff before the next application period starts June 3.

The sale of cannabis to adults for recreational use became legal in California on Jan. 1, 2018. Santa Rosa's local ordinance for pot sales took effect shortly afterward. There were 38 dispensary applications filed with city officials in April 2018.

Twenty-three applications have secured city approval, are pending review, or have been appealed. More information about the city's cannabis policies and the upcoming application period is available at srcity.org/404.
