Jessie McKee Barbour of Sonoma celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends this week. She was born on March 13 in San Francisco, raised in various towns across California and was married to Loran Barbour from 1939 until his passing in 1989. After her husband's career as a Navy Seal ended after the war, the Barbours moved to Sonoma in 1961, owning homes on Mountain Ave., Second Street East, Austin, Walnut and finally in Temelec, where Jessie still resides. She started her career as a model in San Francisco and later was a part owner of the Napa and Vallejo children's store, the Young Mart, and was a nurse at the Napa State Hospital and for Sonoma's Dr. Stephen Cox. Today, she is a popular local pet-sitter.
