“Empowering The Female Heart” is a topic beating strong this March as part of Sonoma Valley Hospital’s series of women’s health talks.

Cardiologist Sheryl Garrett will lead a March 1 conversation about “Empowering the Heart: A Talk for Women,” at the next session of the hospital’s education program.

Garrett recently joined the Northern California Medical Associates Cardiology practice in Sonoma.

In her talk, Garrett will address how a women’s heart evolves throughout a woman’s life, from teenager to post-menopause, and what this means for women in terms of maintaining a healthy heart. Garrett will review new findings in the cardiovascular field and spotlight important prevention practices for women. Joining Garrett will be yoga instructor Kristine Marchus who will lead a “gentle practice for the heart,” according to a hospital announcement.

The March session will be held at Ramekins, 450 W. Spain St., from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1. There is a $10 donation at the door to cover light refreshments and beverages, and a no-host bar will be available. Reservations are required as space is limited. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. To reserve a place or for more information, call Celia Kruse de la Rosa at 935-5257, or email ckrusedelarosa@svh.com.
