El Verano students explore Sonoma’s Garden Park

Hay bales, chickens, figs and more|

El Verano Elementary School’s 50 fourth-graders enjoyed a field trip to Sonoma Garden Park last week. The class enjoyed a scavenger hunt where they learned about the park and its bountiful variety of crops, harvesting, composting, native plants, bird and insect identification and water conservation. El Verano’s fourth grade teachers are David Kohnhorst, Gabrielle Heppe and Corey Decker. (Decker’s class of 25 students will be going at a later date). The students said that their favorite parts were playing on the hay bale fort, the exploration station where they harvested veggies, feeding the chickens and finding the hidden gnomes in the fig forest.
