Midday on Tuesday, Oct. 30, Santa Rosa police officers were dispatched to a collision between a big rig truck and a female bicyclist near the intersection of Stony Point Road and Highway 12. The first officers to respond located the woman, Sidney Falbo, 20, of Santa Rosa, pinned under the rear wheels of a loaded 10-wheel dump truck in the southbound lane of Stony Point Road just south of Highway 12. Falbo was showing no signs of life and she was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel, according to Santa Rosa police officials.

The driver of the truck, William Donald Parisi, 58, of Sonoma, remained at the scene with Falbo. He was cooperative and interviewed by traffic accident investigators at the scene. Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the collision, according to the police report.

Witnesses told law enforcement officials that Parisi exited eastbound Highway 12 at Stony Point Road and stopped at the traffic signal on the off ramp. When the signal turned green, he waited for a pedestrian in the crosswalk at Stony Point on the south side and then began to make a right-hand turn onto southbound Stony Point Road. The bicyclist was then struck by the dump truck in or near the crosswalk. According to the report, police officials remain unclear exactly from where Falbo came. She was struck while heading eastbound across Stony Point Road in or near the crosswalk at the Joe Radota Trail. There were no obvious visual obstructions in the area and all traffic lights and signals appeared to be functioning normally.

Officers still are determining where Falbo was headed. Falbo carried a student identification card for Santa Rosa Junior College but officers have not yet verified she was a student.

Anyone with any information related to the collision is asked to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department Traffic Bureau at 543-3636.
