The Voena Children's Choir was founded in Benicia in 1994 and since that time its young singers have performed all over the world – including at Carnegie Hall in New York and at music festivals in Croatia. Its big annual show is in Yountville at Lincoln Theater in December.

The choir is directed by Annabelle Marie, who teaches kids ages 5 to 18 ethnically diverse music, instilling in them an appreciation and enthusiasm for different languages and cultures.

A handful of local families are trying to bring the nonprofit a capella children's program to Sonoma. In order to do so, they are looking for a commitment of 30 or more children, age 5 to 18. Practices would be twice a month at Cornerstone for 90 minutes. The choir's semester tuition is around $475, but financial aid is available.

Voena will be holding an informational workshop at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Cornerstone, in the barn.

Voena has a 'no audition' policy and the purpose of the meeting is to see who would be interested. Both boys and girls from all income levels and musical abilities from across Sonoma and Napa county are welcome.
