Here’s a quick run-down of some arrest reports from Sonoma Police, starting early July.

Monday, July 2: At 11:30 a.m. Sonoma Police received a call about a man “acting weird” at the southeast corner of the Plaza, running and hopping in the park without a shirt on. When deputies showed up they found a young man “doing pushups and flopping around on the ground,” according to the police report. The man was detained and examined for intoxication, and a background check found he was on probation. He was taken to the station for a more complete examintation and a urine sample was taken, though results were not available. Joel Matthew Grodivant, 28, of Santa Rosa, was arrested and charged with both felony and misdemeanor violation of probation and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Tuesday, July 3: At about 11 a.m., a deputy noticed a car going the wrong way down Lomita St. behind Taco Bell, and followed him to the Maxwell Shopping Center. The deputy pulled the driver over but the man refused to hand over any identification and did not to step out of the car when asked. He was pulled from the vehicle and handcuffed, and taken to the county jail, charged with resisting an officer.

Wednesday, July 4: Just before 7:30 p.m., police were called about a man on 3rd Street West yelling about killing babies and wrapping an extension cord around their necks. Among the people he made these comments to was the reporting party, who was carrying her 4-month-old baby. When police arrived they found the man outside of Whole Foods drinking from a can of Mickie’s Malt Liquor, with slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and smelling of alcohol. Upon searching him, police found a single round of .40 caliber ammunition in a pocket, a glass cylindrical pipe with a bulbous end, and a baggie with a white crystalline powder. Brian Duncan, 40, of Santa Rosa, was taken to county jail and charged with public intoxication, a former convict in possession of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.

Friday, July 6: Shortly after 2:20 a.m., a Sonoma deputy patrolling in the area of Boyes Blvd. and Railroad Ave. was pulled a car over for going 40 in a 25 mph zone and rolling through at least two stop signs. The driver said he was on his way to an all-night market for cigarettes, but showed signs of intoxication and did poorly on a Field Sobriety Test (FST). A blood test was administered at the police station, though results were not available for the report. Vincent Santaniello, 32 of Springfield, Massachusetts, was charged with traffic violations and DUI, then taken to a local residence.

About an hour later on Friday morning, a deputy on patrol noticed a late-model black Lexus SUV sitting for a long time at a stop sign on East Verano. When the vehicle started moving it swerved over the double yellow line, and kept going onto Junipero Serra Dr. before it finally pulled over. The deputy noticed the driver smelled of alcohol, though the insisted she only had two drinks. A breath test administered at 3:43 a.m. – half an hour after she was stopped – showed a .18 alcohol content. The car was towed at the scene, and Jessica Miao Gao, 26, of Los Angeles, was charged with DUI and released to the custody of a friend.
