Sonoma Valley High School back-to-school registration begins Aug. 13

Registration is required for every student at SVHS, incoming or returning.|

All good things must come to an end and ready or not, it’s that time of year again, so to all current and incoming Sonoma Valley High School students: back-to-school registration for the 2018-2019 academic year should, perhaps begrudgingly, be on your summer radar. Freshman and seniors should report to the Pfeiffer Gym and Pavilion from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13. Juniors and sophomores should attend from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14.

Registration is required for every student, as is an online portion to be completed at https://tinyurl.com/ycqa3qu8 in advance. Parents are encouraged to attend the day in order to assist their student with paperwork and fees.

Students will take school ID photos and sign up for athletic teams, extracurriculars and clubs.

At back-to-school registration, families are asked to give a “SVHS Dragon Donation” of $100 per student, and $50 for each additional sibling. The donation covers student engagement, recognition and activities like Dragon Days, Link Crew, Plus Program, award programs, homecoming, school planners, supplemental classroom supplies, incentives and field trips.

The fee also covers technology, including maintenance and materials for labs and student computers. Some of the donation dollars also go to campus beautification, including the enhancement of the physical environment at SVHS with plants, ground cover, benches, murals, etc. Finally, the donation also supports the maintenance of database and purchase of new titles at the school library.

At back-to-school registration, families can also purchase a student body card, called an ASB sticker, for $65 per student which provides free admission to home sporting events and reduced rates at other school events i.e. dances and plays.

Students can purchase P.E. clothes and learn about Chromebook insurance. There also be information on school lunch, transportation and senior projects.

Parents can also shop around and join the SVHS Booster Club.

In order to receive class schedules, students need to be sure to remedy any debt and pay lost book fees and/or late fees in cash, card or credit.

After this brief school preview, students can get back to chillaxing poolside and savor the remaining moments of summer.

The first day of school for Sonoma Valley High students is Monday, Aug. 20.
