The Praxis Peace Institute will host a lecture and three subsequent workshops based on Jeremy Lent’s book, “The Patterning Instinct: A Cultural History of Humanity’s Search for Meaning.”
The lecture and first workshop will be held will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, in room 110 at the Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St., Sonoma. Two subsequent workshops will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8.
Lent will speak about how different world views arose and shaped the course of history and how they influenced the hidden foundations of the modern unsustainable worldview.
Tracing cultural history from earliest times and divergent world views to today, Lent will identify the old patterns and suggest ways to reshape and actualize alternative patterns that serve people and planet.
This series is a project of the Praxis Think Tank, which is an initiative to help understand the culture’s structural patterns and to explore how to reshape and transition them for a flourishing future.
There will be no charge for the three subsequent workshops but to participate in them, one must commit to all three meetings. The first one begins immediately after Lent’s lecture on March 4.
The cost is $20 for the lecture.
In the interactive workshops, participants will identify old patterns and explore reshaping and actualizing new patterns that reflect a conscious interaction with people and nature.
Lent was born and raised in London, England. He received his undergraduate degree from Cambridge University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He founded the Liology Institute in 2012, with the aim of fostering a worldview that will enable humanity to thrive sustainably. One of its key objectives is to stimulate and encourage a deep integration of scientific rigor with spiritual meaning and to replace the mind/body duality of conventional Western thought with a connected systems worldview.
