Sonoma teen completes Eagle Scout project

Sonoma Valley teen Genaro Pamatz, a senior at Sonoma Academy, has just completed his final project to attain the designation of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, and one of the last steps of this process is to coordinate an Eagle Project.

Pamatz has been a scout in local Troop 113 for just four years but in that time he says he has enjoyed the program’s camp outs, survival and emergency training and the merit badge program. His scoutmaster is Kenny Even.

In addition to working on his Eagle Scout project, Pamatz is busy applying to colleges and, for the past two years, he has worked as a marketing and communications intern at Sonoma Academy, taking photographs and videos for the school’s marketing materials.

The Eagle Scout program requires a final project that shows leadership and commitment from the scout, while also benefiting the community. For Pamatz’s project, he organized a food drive and collected 75 pounds of food for FISH (Friends in Sonoma Helping).
