A Sonoma Valley family was displaced after a SUV crashed through their home early Thursday, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded around 6:30 a.m. to the scene of the crash in the 400 block of Verano Avenue, Sonoma Valley Fire Battalion Chief John Franceschi said. A girl from across the street was attempting to move her family’s Range Rover when the SUV backed out into the street, hopped a sidewalk and slammed into two fences before plowing through the front of the house, Franceschi said.

“(It) was all the way into the house,” he said about the SUV, which came to rest in the kitchen.

Franceschi said a woman lived in the house with her daughter and granddaughter. The Red Cross was called out to assist them after their home was deemed uninhabitable, he said.
