A lucky 13 writers, photographers and marketing professionals from China are visiting Sonoma County this weekend on a 10-day media tour of California’s wine and agriculture industry, according to Birgitt Vaughan of Sonoma County Tourism. “We are looking to give them a great overview of our county and its agricultural heritage roots,” said Vaughan.

Following a lunch at Green String Farm and a visit to a Petaluma-area cheese farm, they spent Thursday in Sonoma, which included a two-hour visit to Buena Vista Winery, stop-overs at Figone Olive Oil and the Sonoma Plaza, and a tour of Benziger’s biodynamic vineyard.

Other stops in Sonoma County will include a visit to Healdsburg Shed, Kendall-Jackson Estate and Garden, and dinner at Francis Ford Coppola Winery and Rustic Restaurant.

Members of the media press trip include editors, wine writers and cameramen for Chinese lifestyle magazines and television programs, and at least one chef and restaurant owner from Shanghai. The trip was organized by Visit California and the US Agriculture Trade office with China’s Savor USA program.

The group will also explore the Tri-Valley (Amador, Livermore and San Ramon valleys) and Monterey before departing from San Francisco on Sept. 24.
