Sonoma Sheriff log, May 26

A potential burglar at the Boys & Girls Club was interrupted by the club’s alarm so he fled...|

Someone attempted to break into the Boys and Girls Club at Maxwell Farms Regional Park early on Monday, May 18, at about 2 a.m. The building’s alarm system went off and it appeared the suspect was startled into leaving without taking anything – but he was captured on video by the club’s surveillance system. As he had several prior arrests including for burglary, he was known to law enforcement.

At 5 p.m. the next day, May 19, Joseph Jacob Wolfenden, 25, was arrested by Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputies in the area of Verano Avenue and Old Maple Avenue. Wolfenden is apparently homeless.

He was taken to the Main Adult Detention Facility where he is currently incarcerated on $120,000 bail for charges from several such incidents including burglary, tampering with a motor vehicle, vandalism, buying or receiving stolen property, felony committed while out on bail, unlawfully taking a car or “joyriding” and auto theft, and violation of probation.

The Valero gas station at Sonoma Highway and Siesta Way saw some action late on Tuesday, May 12, when a man who had purchased fuel was blocked from leaving the station by a blue Honda CR-V. The victim attempted to maneuver his car around the Honda, but the other driver accelerated forward and collided with the driver’s side front door.

The victim was able to get away and drove to the Sonoma Valley sheriff’s substation on Grove Street to report the incident. The driver of the Honda was known to him from an earlier incident when he had been assaulted by the suspect.

David Munoz-Sainz, 28, was located on May 18 at 10:40 a.m., arrested and booked on assault with a deadly weapon (not a firearm) and felony vandalism. He is no longer in custody.

Just after midnight on Sunday, May 24, Sonoma Police received a call from the front desk of the El Pueblo Motel, on West Napa Street, about a belligerant man. The motel had already filed a “no trespass order” with the police, but the subject of the order had returned to the front desk again.

As during his previous visit, the suspect berated and complained to the staff in an antagonistic manner. When deputies arrive they attempted to de-escalate the scene by slowing the pace and keeping calm, but the suspect only escalated his aggressive manner.

At one point he told the deputies he had a weapon, but only pulled a lighter from his pocket. But the deputies felt there was sufficient cause to arrest Antonio Merlin Patrinostro, a 55-year-old Sonoma man, for 69PC, felony obstruction or resisting a law enforcement officer with threats or violence.

He was booked at the Main Adult Detention Facility in Santa Rosa.
