Sonoma Valley Hospital returns to normal operations

Elective surgeries are back on at Sonoma Valley Hospital|

Sonoma Valley Hospital resumed normal operations recently after weeks of restricted access and limited services due to the coronavirus pandemic, hospital officials announced this week.

“We are very relieved to be able to resume serving our community’s health needs, because the Valley thrives when we are each at our best,” said hospital CEO Kelly Mather.

Chief Medical Officer Sabrina Kidd reported to the hospital board at its monthly meeting last week that the hospital is again scheduling outpatient surgeries and offering elective procedures.

To continue to protect patients and staff, the hospital requires everyone to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing in waiting rooms and public areas. Kidd said in the meeting that patient safety is a top priority and enhanced cleaning takes place throughout the hospital.

The hospital continues to run its COVID-19 hotline, screening and testing, and to date there has been a lower than expected number of people seeking the test, as well as a low number of patients testing positive to the virus, officials said.

The COVID-19 screening hotline – 935-5440 – operates daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If the screening determines that a patient should be tested, an appointment is made for the drive-through screening, which is located at the north entrance parking lot of the hospital (west of Third Street West off of Andrieux Street).
