The Hanna Institute is holding a three-day immersive conference this month focused on healing-centered practices and models of resiliency through a trauma-informed care approach.

The conference, “The Ecology of Resilience: Transformation Through Trauma-Informed Care,” will be held Jan. 29 to 31 at the Hanna Institute located on the campus of the Hanna Boys Center, at 17000 Arnold Drive.

Four leaders in the study of trauma treatment will share their expertise in keynote speaker sessions, group presentations and panel discussions. Among the speakers are Julian Ford, president of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies; Christine Courtois, a consultant on trauma psychology and treatment; Kenneth Hardy, director of the Eikenberg Institute for Relationships; and Sandra Bloom, founder of the Sanctuary Model, an inpatient psychiatric program for treatment of trauma-related emotional disorders. Laura Zimmerman, former executive director of Sonoma Valley Education Foundation, will be a panel moderator.

The first day of the conference is focused on facing and overcoming trauma in communities and agencies. Day two looks at treating trauma through organizations and supporting individual healing. The final day addresses trauma in individuals.

Each day includes continental breakfast and lunch. Attendees can attend one, two or all three days. Designed for school staff, and anyone working in the youth-serving health and welfare sector.

Single-day cost is $250 and three-day cost is $600.

Through a grant funded by Community Foundation Sonoma County, scholarships are available for Title 1 school faculty and staff, provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Use registration code SOCOSCHOOL to receive the discount.
