Two local organizations will join together again this year to offer a free Thanksgiving meal to community members on Thanksgiving Day.

“We are excited to be joining forces with Vintage House this year to create one big community Thanksgiving celebration,” said John Gurney, executive director of the Sonoma Community Center in a statement.

The Sonoma Community Center and Vintage House are jointly hosting the free buffet-style Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28 at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Building located at 126 First St. W. Seating is on a first come, first served basis, and attendees are asked to bring a dessert to share.

Gary Edwards, a longtime Sonoma Community Center volunteer and former city councilmember will work with co-chef Daniel Quijada to lead the dinner preparations supported by an all-volunteer crew. Distributing and donating meal ingredients and supplies are local groups Elaine Bell Catering, Paul’s Produce, Sonoma Market, Clover Dairy and Joanne Romanini Distributing.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with the Community Center on this free community Thanksgiving event, and to help nourish Sonoma Valley residents with a delicious dinner and a sense of belonging,” said Priscilla Essert, executive director for Vintage House, in a press release about the event.
