An array of organizations have stepped forward to offer free groceries and prepared meals in Sonoma, open to anyone in need.

Mondays

Redwood Empire Food Bank distributes 'Groceries to Go' on the first and third Monday of each month from 2 to 3 p.m. at Larson Park at 329 De Chene Ave.

Tuesdays

Every Tuesday from 8:45 to 10:15 a.m., Redwood Empire Food Bank offers a 'Produce Pantry' open at St. Leo's Church at 601 Agua Caliente Road.

On the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, there is 'Groceries to Go' from 5 to 6 p.m. at the First Congregational Church at 252 W. Spain St.

On the third Tuesday from 9 to 9:45 a.m., Redwood Empire Food Bank offers a basket of food to seniors 60 and older at Sonoma Vintage House senior center.

On the first and third Tuesday of every month from 5 to 6 p.m. there is a 'Groceries to Go' at St. Patrick's Church in Kenwood.

There is also a 'Groceries to Go' on the third Tuesday of every month from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Vintage House.

Wednesdays

There is a free lunch at the Springs Community Hall every week from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. served by Sonoma Overnight Support and a rotating group of volunteers.

Thursdays

Every Thursday, Teen Services at 17440 Sonoma Highway serves a free soup lunch from 11:30 to 1 p.m. provided by Vintage House that is open to all.

Fridays

On the first and third Friday of every month, Redwood Empire Food Bank offers a 'Produce Pantry' from 9 to 10 a.m. at Sonoma Valley Community Health Center at 19270 Sonoma Highway.

On those same days, 'Groceries to Go' are offered from 9 to 10 a.m. at Jack London Village at 14301 Arnold Drive.

On the first Friday of every month, there is a 'senior basket' for ages 60 and up from 9 to 10 a.m. at Jack London Village.

On the second and fourth Friday of the month, there are 'Groceries to Go' from 9 to 10 a.m. at Craig Avenue Baptist Church at 18621 Railroad Ave.

Every Friday, Vintage House offers a free soup lunch that is open to seniors from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Every Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., Sonoma Overnight Support hosts a free dinner at La Luz Center for any member of the community in need of a warm meal.

Other

St. Vincent de Paul Society operates out of St. Francis Solano Church on West Napa St. with a free food pantry (no questions asked) Monday through Friday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. They offer shelf stable and freezer food -- as well as bagged lunches for anyone who doesn't have a kitchen.

St. Leo's Church also invites anyone in the community to call 996-8422 once a month on any Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and to pick up their pantry items from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. that same day.

Sonoma Overnight Support's Haven Shelter serves breakfast and lunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday for anyone who is food deprived. According to ED Kathy King, SOS is now serving 3,000 meals a month in three different locations: The Haven, La Luz, and The Springs Community Hall.

SOS also offers a prepared food take-away phone line at 501-7441. Friends in Sonoma Helping, or FISH, at 18330 Sonoma Highway also offers groceries. Call 996-0111 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and noon to arrange pickup.
