The Sonoma Valley Unified School District has plans to break ground on a $9.5 million athletic complex at Sonoma Valley High School in the summer of 2020. The current plans include an all-weather field (striped for football, soccer and lacrosse) surrounded by an 8-lane track and will include seating and lights.

A preliminary EIR (Environmental Impact Report) meeting about the project will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday Sept. 9 in the Sonoma Valley High School College & Career Center (note new location).

In the months ahead, the project timeline includes several other notable dates.

** The draft EIR is expected to be published for public comment the week of Sept 23.

** The district expects to hold a public information session to be held at the high school the week of Oct. 7.

** There will be a public hearing at the November school board meeting.

** Finally, there will be a board hearing for project approval or disapproval and potential certification of the EIR at the March or April school board meeting.
