Movie, pizza and Peter Coyote at Muscardini Cellars

Actor presents pizza, movie about pizza.|

Peter Coyote and Italian film director and actor Matteo Troncone will entertain attendees at the pizza dinner and screening of Troncone’s “Arrangiarsi” at Muscardini Cellars on Sunday, May 19 as a fundraiser for Sonoma Valley Museum of Art.

Randy Martin of Vineyard Crust Company will bring his Italian-made wood-fired oven on wheels to quickly cook pizzas for everyone. I first met Martin at a Sonoma International Film Festival a few years ago and was amazed at how they could make an excellent pizza in 60 to 90 seconds.

The story teaser: Matteo Troncone, of whom Peter Coyote is a big fan, was living in his VW van on the streets in San Francisco, decided to trace his roots to Naples, Italy and learn the secrets of his favorite Neapolitan pizza.

According to SVMA, he learns the art of arrangiarsi, “the process of arranging yourself to make something from nothing.” The film apparently combines foodie passion, some quirky Italian history, and the story of Troncone’s journey to find himself and the greatest pizza on earth.

Aspiring to achieving that lofty pizza status, Vineyard Crust Co. will make pizza before your eyes served in a buffet with salad.

Pizza styles will include margherita with tomato sauce, basil, olive oil and pecorino cheese, and one called SonomaRoni, made of pepperoni, roasted pepper, tomato sauce and smoked provolone.

Coyote and Troncone will team up for a Q&A session after the film screening. $70 lawn seating, $75 reserved chair seating. $85 limited reserved table seating. 7 p.m. All tickets include pizza, salad, and a glass of Muscardini’s fine wines. For lawn seating, bring low chair and blankets. 9380 Sonoma Highway, Kenwood. Call 933-9305.
