Sonoma artist Patricia Akay is preparing for retirement with a 'downsizing sale' April 26 to 28.
Akay has donated paintings to the Sonoma Valley Historical Society, St. Andrews Church, Vintage House senior center, Transcendence Theater company and the Glen Ellen Fire Department auction.
Akay's art includes watercolor, oil and mixed media. Akay estimates she has sold more than 1,000 pieces over the years.
'Having painted all my life, my subjects have gone through stages,' Akay said. 'Wildflowers, children, buildings, vineyards and vineyard workers.'
Akay's latest series features portraits of local musicians.
A native Californian, Akay lived for many years in Burlingame and San Mateo, before moving to Sonoma more than over 20 years ago with her family.
Akay has taught watercolor classes, conducted demonstrations and critiques for art groups throughout the Bay Area and owned her own art gallery.
As part of her 'downsizing,' Akay is having a studio sale, with reduced prices, as a 'gift to her loyal patrons.'
The sale will be held at 750 Third St. E. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
