As part of this year’s International Cultural Exchange Week, the Sonoma Community Center is offering a series of Chinese ceramics events. Chinese ceramic artists Jackson Li and Meiqun Gu will present their mastery in Chinese ceramics at the center next week with a series of workshops.

Each workshop includes tea service along with ceramics demonstrations and hands-on activities. The artists will share their expertise in wheel-thrown pottery, handmade brush making, traditional Chinese painting on paper and on ceramics and “Yixing” teapot making.

A Brush-Making Workshop with tea service is from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, March 22, followed by a potluck and artist talk from 6 to 9 p.m. (suggested donation $20). On Saturday, March 23 the artists will offer workshops to show their respective work and approaches to the traditional tea ceremony, teapot making in the Yixing tradition and surface brushwork.
