Glen Ellen Inn, never fancy always fresh

Long-awaited remodel finds Valley favorite back and better than ever|

Karen and Chris Bertrand just reopened their prized and popular Glen Ellen Inn Oyster Bar & Grill after months of post-fire remodel and improvements.

Due to the power outages during the October fires, they had to dump the food in their walk-in fridge and freezer – leading to a temporary closure – which ultimately set them off on a long-planned remodel.

They finished their cottages in back first, then covered themselves in sawdust and paint for days and weeks.

Under the motto of “Never fancy. Always fresh,” they are serving several salads including a grilled Romaine with Caesar dressing and pine nuts, lots of raw, Rockefeller or crispy fried oysters, ginger calamari, chipotle shrimp tacos, Dungeness crab pot stickers on leek cream, Ahi tostadas with avocado, jalapeno and crème fraiche, Ahi poke, Wagyu burgers with hand cut garlic fries, Prince Edward Island mussels in pancetta saffron beurre blanc with garlic fries, lamb meatballs with curry spaghetti, petite filet mignon and prawns, salmon, steak and fries, and a “Buddah Bowl” with red quinoa base.

we are looking forward to them opening for lunch. Dinner, appetizers and the bar is open Thursday through Monday, from 5 to 9 p.m. No reservations. 13670 Arnold Drive, Glen Ellen.
