National juried show at Sonoma Arts Guild

Reception on Sept. 2 to celebrate top choices|

The Arts Guild of Sonoma continues its 40th year anniversary celebration as a nonprofit artists’ cooperative in the heart of Sonoma wine country. The Guild is hosting a reception from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2.

As part of the festivities, the Guild launched its first National Juried Competition. The jurors were Donna Seager and Suzanne Gray of Seager Gray Gallery. The Guild received responses from across the country, with a total of 370 pieces submitted for consideration.

The competition was open to all artists over 18 years of age nationally in the mediums of sculpture, printing, painting,

photography, ceramics, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art and book art. All work needed to be original – no reproductions.

“All the art submitted is wonderful, and the jurors were challenged to settle on their top choices,” said Jackie Lee of the Guild.

The finalists included Michael Acker, Laura Culver, Reiner Keller, Sandra Rubin, Patricia Akay, Judi Danner, Kate Knudsen, Robert Ryan, Rhiannon Alpers, Deborah Donahower, Gayle Lorraine, Louise Schiele, Char Banach, David Gates, Michael Manente, Linda Semple, Rebecca Bangs, Lisa Toby Goodman, P.K. Margis, Marina Smelik, Marie Bergstedt, Anne Green, Andrew Merriss, Brian Tepper, Sandra Berkson, Belinda Hart, Fran Meuller, Toby Tover, Gail Berreman, Jaye Hays, Bruce Papitto, Sophia Xinman Wang, Tiffany Bociek, Kirk Hinshaw, Sherry Parker, Jennifer Whitfield, Leslie Bodzy, Duncan House, Ellie Portner, Diane Williams, Donna Broder, Barbara Jacobsen, Sudabeh Ramhormoz, Kelsey Woodward, Barbara Crow, Karla Kaizoji Austin and Carol Rosemond.

“Please join us to meet the chosen artists as they share the power of their art with you,” said Lee.

The gallery is fully dedicated to their works during the month of September.

The exhibition runs from Aug. 31 to Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Tuesdays.

The Arts Guild of Sonoma is located at 140 E. Napa St.
