Pest control for a health Sonoma garden

How to minimize pest problems with good gardening practices|

Sonoma Valley Library will host a free workshop by the Integrated Pest Management specialist team of the U.C. Master Gardener Program of Sonoma County on Nov. 2.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) seeks to control pest problems with a combination of techniques that minimize damage to plants as well as people and other living creatures.

IPM involves:

minimizing problems by using good gardening practices

recognizing problems as early as you can and deciding whether they can be tolerated

identifying the source of the problem

determining appropriate measures to control the problem

if you find it necessary to use insecticides or herbicides, using them safely

The workshop is 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.
