Grants available for Sonoma musicians

‘These grants will help musicians who want to build a successful career in music gain the tools they need to make that happen.’|

Creative Sonoma has announced a new round of grants for local musicians and bands. The Next Level grants are designed to help Sonoma’s musicians advance their careers with financial and consulting resources.

Up to five bands or musicians will receive a $2,500 grant in support of their proposed projects along with up to 10 hours of one-on-one consulting time with music industry experts. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 29. The program is funded, in part, by the National Endowment for the Arts.

“Sonoma County boasts a richly diverse music scene that enlivens our community, from clubs and coffee houses to town squares and concert halls,” said Supervisor David Rabbitt, chair of the Board of Supervisors, in a press release announcing the grants. “These grants will help musicians who want to build a successful career in music gain the tools they need to make that happen.”

Applicants must be residents of Sonoma County, at least 21 years old, and able to complete the funded project within one year of the grant award. Guidelines and the application link are at creativesonoma.org/grants/next-level-grants-for-musicians/.

Last year’s grantees included Dyatribal, Alan Hall, Manzanita Falls, Marshall House Project and Oddjob Ensemble.
