Bethany Hamilton doc to screen in Sonoma

Film fans, and surfers, can catch a special documentary film screening of “Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable” at the Sebastiani Theatre at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, hosted by the Sonoma International Film Festival.

Hamilton lost her arm to a tiger shark at age 13, but that didn’t stop her from pursuing her dream of becoming a professional surfer. However, it wasn’t only the competition that fueled her desire to stay in the big blue, but her love for the ocean. Not only has she conquered the giant walls but also the journey of being a mother – all with only one arm.

Doors will open at theater at 6:30 p.m. for a wine reception prior to the film; screening begins at 7:15 p.m. The directors and the executive producer will be in attendance for Q&A after the screening.

SIFF is also offering the chance to join the filmmakers for a dinner at Della Santina’s prior to the film. The sit-down dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and cost $95, including the film.

Tickets for the film are $20 and are available online at https://tinyurl.com/ya572r77.

The 22nd annual Sonoma International Film Festival runs from Wednesday, March 27 through Sunday, March 31.
