Local singer-songwriter Adam Traum plays this Sunday, Jan. 20, at HopMonk Sonoma, with a very special guest: his father, Happy Traum. Showtime for the father-son duo is 8 p.m.

Adam has been playing around Sonoma for quite a while, delivering quality covers and strong originals. He bangs out songs on both guitar and mandolin.

Adam has been busy lately as a solo artist and also fronts the Straw Wattles.

Happy Traum is a member of America's folk music royalty. His involvement with acoustic folk music goes back to what James Taylor referred to as the 'folk music scare' of the 1960s. A friend of Bob Dylan's, Happy's group the New World Singers cut one of the first recorded versions of 'Blowin' in the Wind' in 1963.

In 1967, Happy and his late brother, Artie Traum, formed a duet that, according to Rolling Stone magazine, 'defined the Northeast folk music style.'

Father and son combine their guitar playing and musical DNA like few other duos seen onstage. A rare treat indeed.
