Scott and Lisa Summers have lived in Sonoma Valley for more than two decades. As their four children got older, they found themselves with more time. Scott began drawing and Lisa began teaching painting in Marin through the arts education nonprofit Youth In Arts. She also co-founded the Sonoma Writers Workshop, which hosts a series of poetry readings at Bump Cellars tasting room. Lisa has written and published two collections of poetry and two novels, but after taking several classes with Chester Arnold at College of Marin, she got the bug and painted until she had enough work for her first art show.

In his work, Scott combines an unusual assortment of character sketches, oddities and surreal landscapes. With more than 30 years of professional book and magazine design, information design, cartography, photography, Scott enjoys the low-tech experience of pencil and paper. This is his first show.

New art by the couple is on display at Bump Cellars from Dec. 5 to Jan. 5. There will be an opening reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, as well as an artist reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.
