Sonoma teens shine bright in ‘Bright Star’

Sonoma Valley teens Blake Douglas, Tessa Devine, Ana May Harb and Mikey Smart are appearing on stage this weekend in the Sonoma Academy production of “Bright Star.”

The musical, created by comedian Steve Martin and folk singer/songwriter Edie Brickell, will be performed Nov. 15 to Nov. 17. The story features a score influenced by the music of the American South, based on actual events. Set in the 1920s and 1940s, “Bright Star” follows Alice Murphy as she sets off on a journey to understand her past and the fate of a child she lost long ago.

The show runs Friday at 7 p.m.; Saturday, November 16 at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday at 1 and 6 p.m. Tickets are available at sonomaacademy.org/arts/bright-star.
