Cryoskin therapy arrives in Sonoma

Cryo skin treatments have arrived in Sonoma Valley. The new non-invasive, skin-rejuvenation, toning and shaping technique has become a well-known skin treatment in Europe, but is still relatively new in the United States.

Local nurse Leslie Mancini has been trained in the technique and is now offering services via a 'Cryoskin' machine at her home-based Valley of the Moon Cryoskin Therapy.

Mancini says that Cryoskin machines use the hot-cold Peltier effect 'to kill fat cells without damaging surrounding tissue and increases oxygen supply that aids in collagen production, resulting in slimmer, toned bodies and the elimination of fine lines and wrinkles.'

According to Mancini, the process uses thermoelectric cooling to freeze fat, causing the cell death without damage to overlying skin. The destroyed cells then pass naturally through the body's lymphatic system over the next two weeks. Exercise helps the process, she says.

'The cold therapy causes vasodilation and vasoconstriction, which boosts production of collagen and improves skin elasticity and reduces pore size,' says Mancini about the treatment, which she says is painless and has little-to-no side effects.

Treatments take 20-60 minutes and cost around $150 to $250 per session.

Mancini does not offer whole-body cold therapy, which occurs in a different machine, a cryo chamber. (See 12/3/19 article).

Mancini, who is also a trained massage therapist, is offering the skin cryotherapy services at her home spa in the El Verano neighborhood while she searches for a salon location. She will also make house calls. vomcryoskin.com or 225-1030.
