A huge third and fourth inning carried the Dragons to seize a 22-0 no-hit victory over the Warriors on Thursday night.

Nicolas Sebastiani led off the lineup, going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI. Landon Waldrop 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, Adam Duffield 1 for 3 with 3 RBI.

The pitching combo for the Dragons came courtesy of Christian Hernandez and Landron Waldrop. Hernandez pitched three innings and Waldrop the last one.

Ygnacio Valley committed seven errors, and only nine of their 22 runs were counted as earned. Not to say they pitched well, they gave up 14 hits in four innings, but the Warriors struggled to keep the Dragons from going on huge runs across the board.

The Dragons continue their season with a home matchup against San Marin on Saturday, March 12, at 7 p.m. at Arnold Field in Sonoma.

Sonoma Valley softball gets back on track with win over Novato

After a 14-4 victory, the Dragons restored their confidence with a 19-8 victory over the Hornets. Led by Natalie Broderick’s three-hit, three-RBI performance, Sonoma Valley (2-2) reached base in half of its plate appearances and combined for 10 hits across six innings at the plate, as its offense simply outclassed Novato (0-6).

The offense was also complemented by Gianna Chiotti, who also had three hits and two RBI. The third inning once again proved crucial for the Dragons, who scored nine runs in the top of the third to take a 12-3 lead.

The pitching staff struggled slightly with Novato’s lineup, as they surrendered eight runs on 10 hits. Winning pitcher Kassedy Midgely started the game for the Dragons and finished two innings, while Kyra Hudson came in in relief to finish the game. Each had to get out of jams during their time in the circle, but ultimately did enough to put their team on top.

Sonoma Valley played Marin Catholic on Thursday at 6 p.m. at home, but results were not available by presstime. Sonoma Valley will continue its 2022 campaign after the end of spring break with a mid-week matchup against Cardinal Newman on Wednesday, March 23.

Dragons’ lacrosse in second game of season

Sonoma Valley (0-2) lost 13-2 to San Rafael (5-0) on Wednesday afternoon, marking another loss for a team which has gotten to a slow start this season.

The undefeated Bulldogs weren’t fazed by the Dragons, who used their tremendous defense to hold their hosts to just two points. It was the highest point total of their season, as they had shut out their opponents in three of their past four games.

The Dragons hosted Vintage on Thursday night after the publication deadline for their first league game of the season, and will host Marin Academy for a non-league game on Friday at 5 p.m.
