What’s open, closed during the holidays

With Christmas on Thursday, and New Year’s Day the following Thursday, government agencies will be staggering the days they’ll be closed.

Sonoma County offices will be closed all day Christmas and all day New Year’s Day.

The City of Sonoma will be closed all day Christmas. The following week, city hall will be closed on Jan. 1.

The Valley of the Moon Water District will close its offices all day Christmas and all day, Friday, Dec. 26. The office will only be closed New Year’s Day the following week.

The Sonoma Valley Regional Library will be closed on Christmas. The following week, the library will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Sonoma County Transit will have no service on Christmas Day. The buses will run on a Saturday schedule on Wednesday, Dec. 31, but there will be no service on New Year’s Day.

There will be no garbage pickup by either the Sonoma Garbage Collectors or Redwood Empire Waste on Christmas Day. Thursday pickups will be made on Friday while Friday pickups will be on Saturday. The following week, there will be no pickup on New Year’s Day and all pickups will be pushed back a day again.

All schools will be closed through Monday, Jan. 5.

Banks will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s, and there will be no mail delivery either day.

The office of the Sonoma Index-Tribune will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s.
