Zoom talk: What exactly is in your wine?

Home Wine Labs founder to discuss wine testing and analysis on March 11|

John Rodrigues, founder of Home Wine Labs, will discuss testing and analysis to protect what goes in the bottle in an event hosted by the Sonoma Home Winemakers on Thursday, March 11.

Rodrigues will discuss optimum use of testing and analysis to eliminate the guess work of home winemaking. His talk will focus on what analysis he recommends prior to, and during, the aging process to help protect wine once it goes in the bottle.

Home Wine Lab is a local laboratory that specializes in routine wine analysis with the home winemaker in mind. Rodrigues currently consults for the commercial wine program at the Santa Rosa Junior College and previously worked for Kenwood Vineyards for seven years.

“John’s knowledge of the chemistry of winemaking will be particularly helpful for home winemakers who always struggle with the cost-benefit analysis of professional lab testing,” said J.W. Nickel, president of Sonoma Home Winemakers. The event will include a follow-up question and answer period to address individual needs.

The talk is at 7 p.m. via Zoom. To request a link to participate, email RASuerth@gmail.com.
