SV Fund sets grant info meeting

Offers funding and technical assistance|

The Sonoma Valley Fund has launched a new capacity building grants program this month.

Information on this competitive grants program will be described at an informational meeting from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the Grange, 18627 Sonoma Highway.

This multi-year grants program will provide funding and technical assistance to organizations interested in committing time, energy and innovative thinking to assess and plan for increased organizational effectiveness. Selected organizations will have the opportunity to participate in a facilitated learning cohort, receive consultation in capacity-building and an organizational assessment, support in developing a capacity-building plan, and initial funding of $5,000 to be used at the grantee’s discretion.

The Sonoma Valley Fund recognizes and supports nonprofits currently addressing the unmet health needs of the most vulnerable populations as outlined in the Portrait of Sonoma County. The fund defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. A healthy community is one that is committed to equity through continuously creating and improving both its physical and social environments. Organizations whose mission aligns with this definition and who value capacity building are encouraged to apply.

Anyone who is interested in attending this workshop should email Karin Demarest ( to register. This workshop is designed for staff and board members of organizations serving Sonoma Valley as well as their fundraising advocates and champions. It will help equip anyone interested in submitting a competitive application for a grant.
