Sonoma Valley Community Health Center is offering a vaccine clinic for ages 16 and up from noon to 3 p.m. at El Verano School on Saturday, May 15. Walk in or call 935-6050 to pre-register.

Sonoma County students are invited, along with their families, to a pop-up clinic offering the Pfizer vaccine, now authorized for use in individuals aged 16 and older. On Wednesday, May 12, students interested in being vaccinated against COVID-19 can begin the two-shot protocol.

“Vaccination will allow students and their families to once again enjoy activities such as graduation, vacations, traveling, and soccer and Giants games, while staying healthy and safe,” Dr. Urmila Shende, the county’s vaccine mission chief said in a press release encouraging families to take advantage of the clinic.

Individuals with photo ID are encouraged to bring them along with a prescription insurance card if insured, but no one will be turned away for lack of identification. Students under the age of 18 will need adult consent to receive the vaccine, which can be satisfied by completing a consent form online if a parent or guardian is unable to accompany the minor to the clinic.

“Being vaccinated is one of the best ways students can enjoy the academic and extracurricular aspects of school while protecting themselves, their families and their friends,” County Superintendent of Schools Steve Harrington said in a statement announcing the clinics.

On Wednesday, May 12 from 3 to 7 p.m., a clinic will be located in the Sonoma Valley High School Pavilion. “It is very exciting for all of our students, especially our seniors, as they approach graduation and they will have the opportunity to get vaccinated,” said SVUSD Associate Superintendent Bruce Abbott.

The vaccine clinic is hosted through a partnership between the Sonoma County Office of Education, Safeway, Sonoma County Department of Health Services and the Sonoma County school districts who offered their campuses for staging.

Registration is encouraged but not required; walk-ins are welcome. For more information, go to scoe.org/vaccines or contact Jamie Hansen at jhansen@scoe.org or 524-2620.
