Sonoma County Secret Santa program returns with changes

Thirty years ago, a group of volunteers created a “Secret Santa” program in Sonoma County to fill a community need. Each year since, families have reached out with Secret Santa wishes. These wishes range from holiday gifts and dinner, to more life-changing items like home repairs, healthcare needs and much more.

Today, Sonoma County’s Secret Santa program continues to bring holiday joy to tens of thousands of children and families in need each year. The 2020 program will be a virtual version of traditional giving, including a touchless platform to serve the community and keep staff and volunteers safe.

At the program’s website - - community members can select a heart wish below and view instructions. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the community asked to fulfill heart wishes with a gift card, or by funding the gift online.

While all gifting will occur online, Secret Santa will not share any details about donors or recipients. Secret Santa will use a submitted email to send a thank you and one reminder next year (and following years) to consider adopting another heart or letter.

On the site, children can also write a letter to Santa.

Anyone who wishes to volunteer for the Sonoma County Secret Santa program or if you have any other questions, can call 573-3399 and ask to speak to the "Secret Santa Coordinator“ or email at the Sonoma County Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership.
