Siesta Senior project focus of online community meeting today
Springs are residents with an eye on housing development in their community will be interested in an online community meeting, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, to review plans for a 92-unit senior affordable housing complex on Siesta Way.
The proposal by Milestone Housing has already been reviewed and given non-binding approval by the Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission, and the county Board of Zoning Adjustments. It would require the closure of a small trailer court occupied by 23 people, who would be relocated at developer Milestone Housing’s expense.
The 2.29-acre housing complex, known as Siesta Senior Apartments, will include a three story building, though the majority of the complex is only two stories; it will be accessed via a driveway on Siesta Way and take up much of the block between Siesta and East Thompson streets, behind the businesses on Sonoma Highway and largely not visible from the highway. Concerns have been raised about traffic and parking at the housing project, though developers say the age of the residents is not likely to produce significant traffic nor require significant parking.
The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5, and include a presentation by the development team. The meeting will be viewable on the Zoom platform and a link will be provided prior to the meeting at siestasonoma.com.
