The Republic of Thrift turned three years old this week and Sonoma Valley Education Foundation and the Sonoma Valley Unified School District wanted to wish it a happy birthday. Each school in the district filled a giant birthday board with signatures from students, teachers and parents. Twelve birthday boards were presented to them along with a birthday cake and balloons from Ed Foundation and the entire district. Republic of Thrift has donated more than $106,000 to Sonoma Valley schools over the past three years. Celebrating, front row, from left, are Kira Hewitt, Republic of Thrift owner Jeannette Tomany, Republic of Thrift owner Michelle Tomany blowing out candles, Diana Booker-Spry (SVEF), Theresa Rhodes (SVEF) and Emilia Rognlien (4-year-old daughter of Vanessa). Back row, Vanessa Rognlien (SVEF) and Sonoma Valley High Principal Kathleen Hawing.
