A motorcyclist was injured and transported to Sonoma Valley Hospital following a hit and run Friday about 3:45 p.m., according to Sgt. Juan Valencia of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department. The incident took place on West Napa Street, near the Ig Vella Bridge and Staples.

The car suspected to have been used in the hit and run was found nearby, Valencia said. Police said after fleeing the scene, the driver later turned himself in, but did not have further details about the case by press time.

Pedestrians at the scene appeared to attend to the motorcyclist’s injuries before they were transported to the hospital.
