Why do our brains age the way they do? What helps your brain age in a healthy way? Can lifestyle choices affect brain health?

These are some of the questions that will be explored at the second annual Women’s Health Symposium, presented by Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation and UCSF Health on May 18. Under the theme “Memory and Aging,” a panel of notable UCSF doctors will headline the event at Hanna Boys Center.

Then speakers include Dr. Aimee Kao, an associate professor of neurology at UCSF and Dr. Bruce Miller, director of the Memory and Aging Center and co-director of the Global Brain Health Institute. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. S. Andrew Josephson, chair of the UCSF Department of Neurology.

As guests arrive at 11:30 a.m., they will pick up a boxed lunch to enjoy. The panel starts at noon, and the day ends with wine and sweets in the courtyard.

The educational event was created by a panel of local women. The Steering Committee included Cherie Hughes, Marcia Levy and Joan Weill. The Event Committee features Prema Behan, Lindsay Bennett, Kimberly Blattner, Suzanne Brangham, Leslie Conway, Susan Idell and Judy Vadasz.

Tickets are $125 at svhfoundation.com/events.
