Change in meals: Starting this week, school meals will be handed out to Sonoma Valley students on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only. Each lunch bag will have two breakfasts and two lunches so that the same number of meals are distributed. The sites and times are not changing, just the day. Sites may close early if meals run out. Email with questions. Sonoma's Best/Ramekins is shifting all of its free family meal distribution to Vintage House senior center. Free meals will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. for the remainder of the program.

Creative sheltering: Sonoma Valley High School junior Meg Jernigan has created a video compilation of what her classmates are doing to pass the time while they shelter in place. Watch the video at

Graduation leis: Local floral designer Anne Appleman is selling white or purple orchid leis for $25 to $40 for graduation. Order at least a week in advance. Email

Surveys: The school district is collecting feedback around the distance-learning plan that was put into action this spring as well as thoughts about the next school year. The survey will close on May 22. Fill our here: or check school website.

Tutoring: Sonoma County Library offers free one-on-one tutoring, writing review, practice quizzes, video lessons and more for all ages through You'll also find career resources, including a career center with real- time job coaching and 24-hour resumé review.

Devices: Students will be keeping all school-issued technology devices over the summer break, according to the Prestwood Elementary School newsletter. More information to come as to what the district will be offering this summer.

SRJC graduation: Santa Rosa Junior College will hold virtual celebration and graduation ceremonies on May 22 and May 23 at The college will also invite all 2020 graduates to participate in Commencement 2021, as long as SRJC has reopened for large events by that time.

Free donuts: On May 19, Krispy Kreme donuts is offering a free 'Graduate Dozen' for both high school and college seniors at participating shops. Wear your cap and gown, or other Class of 2020 swag, to prove senior status.

Donations needed: Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma is 'working hard to plan an eventual safe reopening of our Club.' To be prepared, they seek the following donations from their Amazon wishlist which can be found on their Facebook page.

Mentoring news: Susie Gallo, the new executive director of the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, began her new role on May 11. The nonprofit also has updated and enhanced its website at

Congratulations: Sonoma County Board of Education Area One Trustee Gina Cuclis of Boyes Hot Springs, who has been appointed to the California School Boards Association Climate Change Task Force. Cuclis was first elected to the Sonoma County Board of Education in November 2012 and represents Sonoma, Bennett and Rincon valleys.

Free training: The Lime Foundation's NextGen Trades Academy is offering a free 40-hour course for teens who are interested in getting directly into full-time work. Learn vital skills to harness individual potential in music, performing arts, construction careers, technology and health. Online courses begin May 2020. For more information, visit

Art exhibit: Artstart is in search of teenage artists from Sonoma County age 14 to 20 to participate in a visual representation of the shelter at home. All pieces sent will be represented online and included in the design of a large community mural. All skill levels are welcome. Visit
